1. Introduction
Welcome to Peace for Paws (“we,” “our,” or “us”). These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our at-home veterinary euthanasia services (“Services”) throughout Southern California. By scheduling or receiving our Services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you may not use our Services.

2. Scope of Services
We provide at-home euthanasia for companion animals, along with optional related services
such as:
• Quality-of-life assessment
• Pre-euthanasia sedation
• Euthanasia procedure
• Transportation for cremation (if selected)
• Private or communal cremation (via authorized third-party providers)
• Memorial items (if offered)
• Follow-up care or grief resources (optional)
2.1 Medical Limitations
We do not provide emergency care, life-saving measures, surgery, hospitalization, or advanced diagnostics. If your pet is in immediate distress or requires emergent treatment, you agree to seek an emergency veterinary facility.
2.2 Right to Decline Services
We reserve the right to decline or terminate services if:
• An animal poses a safety risk
• Conditions make humane euthanasia impossible
• The pet owner or household environment is unsafe
• There is a legal or ethical conflict
• Required consent cannot be obtained

3. Client Responsibilities
You agree to:
• Provide accurate information about your pet’s medical history, behavior, and condition
• Certify that you are the legal owner or have authority to authorize euthanasia
• Ensure a safe, quiet environment for the procedure
• Manage other animals or humans onsite to minimize risk
• Follow all instructions given by the veterinarian or staff
• Pay all fees at the time of scheduling or service (see Section 7)

4. Consent for Euthanasia
Before any euthanasia procedure, you will sign a **Consent & Authorization Form** confirming:
• You request and authorize euthanasia
• You understand the nature and finality of euthanasia
• You understand that sedation is typically administered first
• You accept responsibility for the decision and its legal implications
• You authorize the veterinarian to end your pet’s life humanely using approved
pharmaceuticals
No Services will be provided without a signed consent form.

5. Privacy & Confidentiality
Although HIPAA does not apply to animal medical records, we voluntarily adopt HIPAA aligned confidentiality principles for protection of client-identifiable information.
We will:
• Protect your personal data using reasonable safeguards
• Limit access to records to authorized personnel only
• Share information only with your consent or as required by law
• Follow the privacy practices described in our Privacy Policy
If you use our website, book online, or communicate electronically, you agree to our Privacy Policy.

6. Record Keeping (California Compliance)
We maintain veterinary records as required by the California Veterinary Medical Board.
Records may include:
• Client contact information
• Pet medical notes
• Euthanasia documentation
• Consent forms
• Communications related to care
These records are legally required to be retained for a minimum period established by California law and cannot be deleted upon request until retention requirements are satisfied.

7. Payment Terms & No-Refund Policy
7.1 Payment Requirements
Payment is due:
• At the time of booking, or
• At the time of service (if permitted by our policies)
Accepted payment methods include:
• Credit/debit card
• Digital payment platforms (if offered)
• Cash (only if specified)
7.2 No-Refund Policy
Because our Services require dedicated travel time, scheduling blocks, medical preparation, and allocation of veterinary resources:
ALL PAYMENTS ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE
This includes but is not limited to:
• Cancellations for any reason after appointment confirmation
• No-shows
• Situations where the veterinarian determines euthanasia cannot be ethically or legally performed
• Changes of mind after arrival
• Third-party cremation or memorial services
In the event that we must cancel due to an emergency, medical unavailability, or unsafe conditions, you may be offered **rescheduling** at no additional charge, but no refunds will be issued.

8. Cremation & Third-Party Services
If you elect cremation or memorial products, these services may be fulfilled by licensed third party providers.
You acknowledge that:
• We may transport your pet to a cremation partner
• We are not responsible for delays, errors, or issues caused by third-party providers
• Cremation timelines vary
• Private cremation ashes are typically returned within an estimated timeframe, not guaranteed
Any third-party service is subject to its own policies.

9. Safety & Liability
9.1 Client Safety Responsibility
You agree to maintain a safe environment for the veterinarian and staff. You accept responsibility for injuries caused by animals or unsafe conditions.
9.2 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by California law:
We are not liable for:
• Accidental injury to pets or persons during handling
• Reactions to sedatives or medications
• Emotional or psychological distress related to euthanasia
• Delays or inability to perform the service
• Errors or delays caused by third-party cremation services
• Loss of personal items, mementos, or remains during transport by third parties
Our total liability is limited to the amount paid for the specific Service rendered (no refunds, but this limits damages).

10. Emergency Situations
We do not provide emergency response. If we determine your pet is suffering in a way that requires immediate emergency care and euthanasia is not appropriate or feasible at that moment, we will advise you to contact an emergency veterinary hospital.
