About the Artist
Martin F. Arriola
Martin F. Arriola is an experienced fine artist specializing in oil, pastel, and watercolor. With decades of practice, he’s known for capturing life, expression,
and personality in every piece he creates. His pet portraits are crafted with care, intention, and genuine respect for the families he serves.
Martin is a Los Angeles born artist with a lifelong passion for drawing, painting, and capturing life through art. He studied Illustration at the renowned Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where he developed a strong foundation in technique, composition, and expressive storytelling.
After a 32-year career as a Product Designer at Mattel Inc., Martin rediscovered his dedication to fine art upon reading Richard Schmid’s influential book Alla Prima. The book inspired him to return to painting, his true creative passion, which he now pursues full-time.
Today, Martin creates artwork primarily plein air or from live models, immersing himself in natural light, movement, and emotion. He works predominantly in oils for his landscapes, while also exploring watercolor and pastels.
He is an Artist Member of the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and also a member of the Pacific Art Group, where he regularly shows his work at the Malaga Cove Art on the Lawn Show in Palos Verdes. His experience, artistic discipline, and love for painting are evident in every custom pet portrait he creates each one thoughtfully crafted to honor the life and spirit of a beloved companion.
